Do you eat out during the week days?\u00a0 I do.\u00a0 When I have a night meeting, I usually do not eat the lunch and wait till around 4:00 PM and I eat early dinner.\u00a0 I usually go to the same restaurant called Sizzler because they have a buffet and you can choose from many things.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I eat extremely slowly so that I can eat and read.\u00a0 Sizzler is supposed to know as a steak house, but I like the salad bar and clam chowder, and fresh fruits.\u00a0 Usually there are handful people in the restaurant when I get there, but the other day I found the sign that states, \u201cNo sharing\u201d.I guess there are people who come as twosome and one orders a small burger and the second person orders the salad bar that is all you can eat.\u00a0 Evidently two people are sharing one salad bar and that is no no.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As much as the restaurant is known as a steak house, I have enough to choose from chicken wings to tacos, spaghetti and meat balls and my favorite, the clam chowder.I like to observe people while I eat.\u00a0 Some eat desert first, then fruits then main meal, but restaurant like Sizzler you can do anyway you want.Since I eat at the particular Sizzler at least once a week, I get to see some of the familiar faces and company.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know them and their names, but they know me, because some of them are doing similar to what I do.\u00a0 Skip breakfast, lunch and eat dinner early while the restaurant is almost empty.I believe some of the friendly faces are homeless people.\u00a0 They have a big bag that must contain life\u2019s necessity items, and some of them \u00a0comes with a child or two together.I try not to eat too much wings, but I love their clam chowder.\u00a0 I sometimes bring the Bible and newspaper and start writing a sermon for the next Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Going \u00a0back to the sign of \u201cNo Sharing\u201d.\u00a0 I understand why they have to put that sign, but the sharing becomes necessity in order to have a good meal once a day for some people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In today\u2019s Gospel, a man comes to Jesus with a question:\u00a0 \u201cGood teacher, what must I \u00a0do to inherit eternal life?\u201d\u00a0 The fellow has kept the commandments.\u00a0 Apparently he\u2019s a pretty good fellow.\u00a0 But Jesus says to him \u2013 \u201cYou lack one thing.\u201d\u00a0 Just one \u2013 the fellow probably thought\u2014\u201cI\u2019m just about there to eternal life \u2013 one more \u00a0test\u2026 oh, come on Jesus, give me that one more test. \u201dJesus said, \u201cGo, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor.\u201d\u00a0 The Mark\u2019s gospel writes that this man was shocked \u2013 and went away grieving.\u00a0 So close to eternal life \u2013 and yet so far!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being willing to share what we have is a mark of the Christian life.\u00a0 But how about the following\u00a0 story.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was a mother who warned her older son to share his sled with his younger brother.\u00a0 The elder boy answered his Mother that he was sharing the sled with his brother.\u00a0 He explained it, \u201cI use the sled going downhill and I let him use it coming up back hill.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sharing is a way of life \u2013it was a way of life for the early Christians.\u00a0 Listen to those words from the book of Acts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe group of believers was one in mind and heart.\u00a0 No one said that any of his belongings was their own, but they all shared with one another everything they had.\u00a0 There was no one in need.\u00a0 Those who owned fields or houses would sell them, bring the money received\u2026.and turns it over to the apostles; and the money was distributed to each one according to his need.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The early Christians \u00a0learned the meaning of sharing what they had.\u00a0 But when we talk of sharing, we\u2019re not just talking about material things.\u00a0 There are also other gifts that we are called on to share.\u00a0 There are our energies and talents that we have been given.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These are called our \u201cSpiritual Gifts\u201d- some have a lot and some have one or two.\u00a0 It\u2019s not the question of how many you have \u2013 it\u2019s a question of what you do with the gifts you have been given.\u00a0 Some of the gifts that we\u2019ve been given may be different.<\/strong><\/p>\n

St. Paul says there are different kinds of gifts \u2013 different ways of serving \u2013 different abilities \u2013 but the same God gives ability to everyone.I believe there is a song entitled \u201cA Place in the Choir.\u201d\u00a0 Some sing low and some sing higher, some sing out loud, on the telephone wire, and some just clap their hands or paws.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

At funerals it is often nice to say of the deceased in the following fashion, \u201cWell done, thou good and faithful servant.\u201d\u00a0 This is from the Bible and this is the commendation awarded in the parable of the talents to those people who used their gifts that God gave them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So all of you, you are gifted people \u2013 gifted by God.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To deny it is a terrible sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To develop it is a blessing to yourself and others.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To use it is responsible stewardship.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To risk it is to live a life of faith and trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I eat extremely slowly so that I can eat and read.\u00a0 Sizzler is supposed to know as a steak house, but I like the salad bar and clam chowder, and fresh fruits.\u00a0 Usually there are handful people in the restaurant when I get there, but the other day I found the sign that states, \u201cNo sharing\u201d.I guess there are people who come as twosome and one orders a small burger and the second person orders the salad bar that is all you can eat.\u00a0 Evidently two people are sharing one salad bar and that is no no.
