Since I talked about this word in the past in one of sermons, someone might remember. What do you say \u201cgreetings\u201d in Zulu which is one of the languages in Southern part of Africa? \u201cSawubona!\u201d And to respond \u201cNigikhona.\u201d If translated in a short form, they are \u201cI see you.\u201d and \u201cI am here.\u201d respectively.
\nHowever, an ELCA pastor in New York who is an African American Descendant explained that much deeper meaning of these greetings. When you say \u201cSawubona,\u201d it means \u201cGod in me see you God in you.\u201d Likewise in the response, when you say \u201cNigikhona,\u201d it measn \u201cYes God is in me and sees God in you.\u201d
\nWhen I heard this, I sensed that because of God we are seeing each other. Whomever and whenever we see someone, that is the first time or someone see each other often, whatever his or her ethnicity, gender, age, religion, because of God we see each other. When we think about this, this greetings bring us God\u2019s love and mercy each other. <\/p>\n

What I talked so far in three minutes is the conclusion of the message today and I may finish this sermon today\u2026. Well, you might think why\u2026. because what I read in the Gospel talked about divorce, so why don\u2019t you talk about it?
\nOr, since Jesus said \u201cwhat God has joined together, let no one separate,\u201d so why don\u2019t you say it is not allowed to divorce? Some people want to hear about divorces\u2026
\nAmong you, there are people who actually experienced divorce. What do you think, how many of you have someone in your relatives or in your family experienced divorce? I believe many of you\u2026. And going through divorce, it is painful. Wounds won\u2019t be gone many months or many years in some cases\u2026 I believe most of you agree.
\nDivorce may influence children and even grandchildren. There are people who do not know his or her biological parent(s) and\/or grandparents\u2026.
\nBut I would tell that divorce might be sometimes necessary\u2026 There are many reasons for that, but for example husband (or father) caused crime, such as killing somebody. I just would like to stop\u2026 after I said, divorce might become necessary in some cases\u2026 Because I do not think the point of the message Jesus talked was the divorce. There was an intention for Pharisees to look for an opportunity if Jesus said something that was against the law that Moses taught. And eventually they were looking cases that they may sue and Jesus may be sentenced to death. . <\/p>\n

While Jesus and disciples were talking about serious business, there were people who brought kids to be blessed by Jesus. Even disciples were mad and tried to let them go away\u2026 However Jesus scolded disciples and let children come to him.
\nIf you were attending the service two weeks ago, you might think \u201cagain?\u201d…. but yes, in the end of the Gospel today, it is described that Jesus held them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them. In the Jewish context at that time, children were thought that they were incapable since they did not understand the laws and could not keep them. Laws were the most important in Jews.
\nIn spite of their inability, Jesus took them up and blessed. What was and is Jesus teaching disciples and us who live in this now? Whoever we are encountering with, in that encountering moment, God is working in them, this should not be overlooked. <\/p>\n

Even we are meeting each of our spouses whom one married with over 30 or 40 years, or whom we meet for the first time to see if someone could be for your spouse, or someone who is very young like preschool child, or someone who owe huge debt\u2026 Whoever is, God\u2019s mercy is working in him or her, and at the same time God\u2019s mercy is working in you. People need to know each other about the God\u2019s love.
\nYes, whoever we are, we are brothers and sisters under the Creator, that Christianity believe. Jesus is reminding that through his action to the children. I think Jesus is challenging us today. Whomever we meet this week, that maybe your spouse, family members, could be ex-spouse, or whomever you meet someone for the first time, we should not see what is the benefit to meet with that person, but see God\u2019s love and mercy in him or her, and see brothers and sisters eath other. What do you say \u201cgreetings\u201d in Zulu which is one of the languages in Southern part of Africa? \u201cSawubona!\u201d And to respond \u201cNigikhona.\u201d If translated in a short form, they are \u201cI see you.\u201d and \u201cI am here.\u201d respectively. However, an ELCA pastor in New York who is an African American Descendant explained that much deeper meaning of these greetings. When you say \u201cSawubona,\u201d it means \u201cGod in me see you God in you.\u201d Likewise in the response, when you say \u201cNigikhona,\u201d it measn \u201cYes God is in me and sees God in you.\u201d When I heard this, I sensed that because of God we are seeing each other. Whomever and whenever we see someone, that is the first time or someone see each other often, whatever his or her ethnicity, gender, age, religion, because of God we see each other. When we think about this, this greetings bring us God\u2019s love and mercy each other.
