あの人は誰だ? ルカ 10: 25-37
主イエスキリストの恵みと平安が、あなたによって集められた会衆の上に豊かに注がれますように！
この礼拝堂で福音書を拝読し聞くとき、ひりひりと心が痛むほどに、主に感謝する必要を感じている。
といっても、今という時代を振り返ると不安な事ばかり。政府の一部運営停止、天文学的な数字で増え続けている米国債務、17兆ドル。医療保険制度改革。これら三つだけでも、心配事はもうたくさんと言いたい。まだ私たちのコミュニティに特有の問題や、LCRの中で命に関わる病にかかっている方々の話をするには、いたっていない。 また、教会に勤めるものとして、世の中はますます非宗教的な場となっていて、神もイエス・キリストも、無視しているような社会になってきている。 それにしても、私はなぜひりひりと心が痛むほどに主に感謝する必要を感じているのか？
それは、イエス・キリストが語った有名なたとえ話を今一度この礼拝堂で聞くことができるから。 たとえどのような困難で悩める時代にあろうが、神は私たちによく知られたたとえ話を話してくださり、神の愛と慈しみによって、私たちは奇跡的に癒され、困難の中にあっても信仰深い生活を送ることができる。
7月のメッセージで、聖書は二つのものに例えられるという話をした。 一つは窓、もう一つは鏡。その時この礼拝堂にはおられなかった方々もいるので、今一度簡単に説明したい。
聖書を窓として読む時は、数千年前に起こったことを、窓を通して見るようなもの。 しかし、その窓が鏡のようになってくる。 それは、私たち自身が、聖書の中で描かれている様子の中に見えてくる。言い換えると、聖書の中のことが、まるで鏡のように、現実の中に起こっていることを反映しているように見えること。
本日与えられた福音書の中で、イエスは、良きサマリア人のたとえ話を、ある律法の専門家に話している。そのたとえ話には、半殺しになった人、司祭、レビ人、サマリア人、宿屋、そしてロバがでてきている。この話が鏡のように現代を反映してきているように思えないだろうか？ その鏡の中で皆さんはどこに映っているだろうか？
ルカによれば、イエスは、「隣人を愛さねばならない。」ということはしっかりわきまえていたものの、隣人とはだれかということがあまりよくわかっていない法律の専門家に、このたとえ話をする中で、司祭やレビ人のようにではなく、サマリア人のように行動するように教えているようだ。
しかし、今一度質問したいが、現在この世の中で起っていることを鑑みる中で、皆さんはこのたとえ話という鏡の中で、どこに映ってるだろうか？ 私は、みなさんが、法律家や司祭やレビ人のようには思えない。イエス・キリストがあたかも皆さんがサマリア人のように振舞っていないとして非難しているようには全然思えない。むしろ、イエスは皆さんにたいへんな憐れみをいだき、皆さんの心に触れ癒してくださっているように見えてくる。
過去、一、二世紀位を振り返るとき、地球環境にしても世界経済にしても、劇的な変化が起こっていると思う。そのような時代に生まれた私たちは、次々に時代が変わる世の中に生きるしかなく、本当に多くの人々が次は何か次は何かと疲れきっているようにもみえる。 ある意味、聖書の鏡の中で、私たちが強盗に会い、滅多打ちにされて、あたかも半殺しにあってしまった人のように思える。そのような状況の中で、サマリア人のような人が顕われあなたに寄り添ってくれる。
サマリア人はユダヤ人から嫌われて排除される境遇にあったが、このたとえ話に出ているサマリア人は、半殺しにあってしまった人を憐れみ、心配し、そして宿屋に運ぶ。 同じように、現代のそのサマリア人は、非宗教的な世の中にあって社会からは無視されてしまっているようだが、そのお方は私たち一人一人を憐れみ、愛してくださり、そして一人一人をこの礼拝堂へと運んでくださってきている。
いったいそのお方はだれだろう？ この聖書の鏡に映っているそのお方は誰だろう？ そのお方は猛烈にこの世を愛し、そして一人一人を聖なる場、聖霊の満つる宿に連れて来てくださる。
お一人お一人、自分で車を運転してあるいは自転車に乗って、あるいは歩いてこの礼拝堂に来られたと思う。
しかし、いったい誰が、その車や自転車を提供してくださったのだろうか。 あるいは、車のガソリンは誰が提供してくれているのか。あるいは自転車や歩いて来た方でも、いったい誰がそのエネルギーを下さったのだろうか？私たちは、いったいどなたに感謝を捧げるべきだろうか？
すべてを創り、提供してくださっている方がいる。 物理的なことばかりでなく、もっとも重要なこととして、霊的で聖なるお方が、私たちをたとえ半殺しにあっているような日々の生活の中でも、前へ進むことを可能にしてくださっている。
神の子、イエス・キリストは、2000年前にこの世に来られ、ユダヤ教の指導者、ローマの政治家、さらにユダヤ人も異邦人も、皆いっしょになって、イエスを十字架に架けて殺してしまった。 イエスに従っていた弟子たちはなんら反対できず、その場から逃げ出してしまっていた。 にもかかわらず、神はイエスを三日後には復活させ、なんら人々を非難することなく赦し、そして、キリストにある平和をくださっている。今の世の中においても、我慢強く、神なるイエスが、実は私たちに神の平和をくださり、神の言葉を下さり、そして、イエスの体と血によって永遠の命を与えてくださっている。
地球環境も世界経済も急激に変化していて、近代世界はあたかも袋小路のようにも見える。 そのような困難に直面している世の中にあっても、イエス・キリストが、その子供である私たちをお世話くださり、奇跡のストリーやたとえ話、生きた御言葉を語ってくださり、 私たちに復活かつ永遠の命を与えてくださっている。 私たちの主イエス・キリストを賛美し、そのイエスに永遠の感謝を捧げよう。 アーメン

May the Grace and Peace of Jesus Christ be with you all!
Listening to the Gospel in this sanctuary, I feel that we are in sore need of thanksgiving.
However, when we look around the world, there are plenty of things that are worrisome. The government shutdown, the astronomical sum of US debt, upwards of 17 trillion dollars, and steadily growing, which may lead the world into financial crisis, as well as the continued debate over the Affordable Healthcare Act are just three (of many) things that cause Americans concern.
And we haven’t even talked about the challenges in your particular community or the many families of our congregation. As staff working for the Christian church, the world is becoming more and more secular, putting God, and Jesus Christ, aside. Why do I say that we are in sore need of thanksgiving?
That is because this month we are listening to famous stories of miracles and parables that Jesus shared with people. Even in the midst of a challenging and worrisome world, God gives us these familiar instructive stories, and through God’s love and grace, we are miraculously healed and we’re able to continue living faithful lives despite challenges in this world.
When I preached in July, some of you might remember, I talked about two metaphors regarding the Bible. One was “Bible as a window” and the other one was “Bible as a mirror”, let me refresh your memory.
You may look at what happened thousands of years ago when you read the Bible as window. However, the Bible is also a mirror…which means, you see yourself in a situation that is described in the Bible. In other words, what happened two or three thousand years ago may become a reality in your own life.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus was talking about the famous parable to the lawyer. In that parable, there are the rubbers, the half dead traveler, the priest, the Levite, the Samaritan, the innkeeper, and a donkey, too. In this story, which figure do you think you represent?
According to Luke, Jesus is talking to a lawyer, and the lawyer knew you should love your neighbor as yourself but was having trouble truly recognizing who his neighbors were. Therefore, Jesus was teaching him to act like the Samaritan and not like the priest or Levite.
However, how do you see yourself? Look in the mirror… I do not see each one of you as the lawyer, the priest, or the Levite. I do not see Jesus accusing you for being unlike the Samaritan, rather Jesus is compassionate with you, touching your heart and healing you.
In the last couple of centuries, I truly believe that there have been drastic environmental and financial changes. Since we were born into this modern era, we are forced to live in a rapidly changing world and I see many tired people in the world. In a sense, through the mirror of the Bible, I see each one of you are like the man who was robbed, beaten, and left half dead. In that situation, the person like the Samaritan comes to you.
Even though the Samaritans were pushed aside by Jews, that Samaritan man was compassionate with the half dead traveler, cared for him, and carried him to the inn. Likewise, even though, this person is pushed aside in the secular community, this person is compassionate with each one of us, loves us, and carries us to this sanctuary.
Who is this person? Who is this person in your mirror in today’s world? He is tremendously compassionate to the people in this world, and is guiding each of us to a holy place, a spiritual inn.
You might say you drove yourself, rode a bike, or you walked to the sanctuary.
However, who provided your car, bike, or who provided gas for your car and gave you energy to start your day? Who should you be thankful to?
There is someone who provides everything. Not only in physical matters but also, most importantly, in spiritual and holy matters that enables us to move forward even though we are “half dead” in our daily lives.
Son of God, Jesus Christ came to this world 2000 years ago, but religious leaders in Jerusalem, Roman political leaders, Jews and gentiles, together put him on the cross and killed him…in spite of the brutality that Jesus suffered by humanity’s hands, God raised Jesus on the third day, without accusing anyone, and Jesus forgives everyone and gives His peace to the world. God’s peace is still continuing in this world, and Jesus still gives his word, his body and his blood that leads us to eternal life.
Environmentally and financially, the world is changing tremendously and sometimes modern life can seem like a dead end. In spite of all the difficulties and worries of this world, our God, Jesus Christ, cares for us, gives us his living word, stories of miracles and parables, and gives us resurrected and eternal life. Let us praise our Lord, Jesus Christ, our Savior, and be ever thankful to Him. Amen.
