4月18日 詩編を読もう：災いを恐れない (詩編 23)
二つの悲しいニュース。月曜のボストンマラソンゴール付近で起こった爆発事件。そしてさらに、昨晩、テキサスの肥料工場でひどい爆発が起こっている。
一連の爆発が起こっている中で、その中に巻き込まれた方々、そしてご家族のために、祈る。 神の平安、慰めがありますように。
今週、そのような環境の中で、本当に感謝したくなる詩編箇所が、与えられている。読み始めるにあたって、
1) 気になる言葉や句に線をひいたり、メモをとったりする。
2) 自分にいったい神は何を語られているか。
3) 私たちのコミュニティに何を語りかけているか。 そのようなことを考えながら、例によって3回、声に出して読んでみよう。
詩編23編
1：【賛歌。ダビデの詩。】主は羊飼い、わたしには何も欠けることがない。
2：主はわたしを青草の原に休ませ／憩いの水のほとりに伴い
3：魂を生き返らせてくださる。主は御名にふさわしく／わたしを正しい道に導かれる。
4：死の陰の谷を行くときも／わたしは災いを恐れない。あなたがわたしと共にいてくださる。あなたの鞭、あなたの杖／それがわたしを力づける。
5：わたしを苦しめる者を前にしても／あなたはわたしに食卓を整えてくださる。わたしの頭に香油を注ぎ／わたしの杯を溢れさせてくださる。
6：命のある限り／恵みと慈しみはいつもわたしを追う。主の家にわたしは帰り／生涯、そこにとどまるであろう。
どこに線を引かれただろうか？ どのようなメモを書かれたり、どのようなことを考えられただろうか？
私の場合、今週は、4節が特に迫ってきている。
12年ほど前になるが、911のテロが起こったとき、シカゴの郊外に墜落した旅客機では、次ぎのような状況だったことがわかっているようだ。
乗客の一人が、電話交換手と話し、ニューヨーク、ワシントンDCで起こっているテロのことを聞いた。そしてほかの乗客と共に、操縦していたテロリストたちと戦うことを決意し、電話の交換手といっしょに祈る。そして、詩編23編4節の「死の陰の谷を行くときも、わたしは災いを恐れない」という言葉を唱えて、犯人たちと格闘。 結果として、飛行機はビルなどに突っ込まないで済んだ。
詩編23編は、1節に書いてあるように、ダビデの詩。 3000年前に生きたダビデの人生のなかで、このような詩が歌われるようになったのだと思う。
しかし、それは、ダビデという一個人だけではなく、とくに、イエス・キリストの死と復活というできごとを、洗礼という形で経験し、さらに、イエス・キリストの体と血をいただいているキリスト者たちに、この4節は特別な意味を持ってくるようになっていると思う。
十字架の死によって、死を滅ぼされる神、主なるイエス・キリストのことを覚える。 どのような災いをも恐れない、この詩編23編の4節は、現代を生きる私たちにも当てはまる。
今一度、ボストン、テキサスの爆発になんらかの形で巻き込まれた方々のことを祈る。そして、復活ルーテル教会の中でも、病との闘いや、さまざまな奮闘をされている方々のことも、詩編23:４節の言葉を覚えながら祈る。

2013年4月14日復活後第3主日聖餐礼拝説教「ペトロとパウロ」”Peter and Paul”安達均牧師

主イエス・キリストの恵みと平安が皆様方と共に豊かにありますように！
皆さんの中には、教会に通う信仰生活が長くなるにつれ、この礼拝堂の中でイエス・キリストに毎週出会っているし、普段の生活の中でも神の存在をひしひし感じているという方がいる。或は、最近キリスト教会、特にこの復活ルーテル教会の存在を知ったという方もいて、神様のことも、イエスさまのことも、聖霊のことも、いろいろな言葉で言われるけど、どうもよくわからないまま教会生活を送り始めたという方もいる。
与えられている福音書、復活のイエスがペテロたちに３回目に現れているところ。 一回目は、復活の日の夕方、なぜか鍵のかかっている部屋に登場。 そして、二回目は、その一週間後、一回目はその場にいなかったトマスもいる１１人の弟子全員の前に現れる。三回目はというと、、、一回目に、弟子たちに罪を赦す権限を与えられながら、弟子たちはいったいなにをしていたのか。 弟子たちの伝道活動はまだはじまっていない。 ガリラヤ湖に戻って、また漁師をはじめていた。本当は、人間を獲る漁師になるのではなかったのか？ 一番弟子だったペトロが言いだして、他に６人の弟子たちが魚獲りに追従した。やはり昔の職業に戻ったほうがよいだろうと思った。でも魚は獲れたのだろうか？ 最初の晩は、ぼうず。。これは聖書の表現ではないが、日本人でつりをしたことがある人はよく使う表現。 とくに、百人一首でぼうずめくりをして遊んだことのある人々にはピンとくると思う。 要は、魚が一匹もとれないこと。。 しかし、そこにイエスが顕れる。でも、弟子たちは、またまたそれが誰だかわからない。 イエスは、言われた「船の右側に網を打てば獲れる。」するとどうだろう。 たくさん魚が獲れるではないか。。。 そして弟子の一人が、「あっ、主イエス様だ。。。」と叫ぶ。弟子の筆頭者、ペトロは、「またやっちゃった。」 イエス様がそこにいてくださるのに、イエス様のことを忘れて、自分勝手な行動をしちゃった。 そして、まずは、イエス様から隠れる。 その後、イエス様とじっくり話す機会があることが書かれている。
十二弟子の核である、ペトロという人は、いうなれば、おっちょこちょい、はやとちり、よく考えない、めだちたがりや、そういう面がたくさん聖書には書かれている。 しかし、イエスは、神は、ペトロを使って、教会、キリストの体を創られ始めた。 カトリック教会では、ペトロを初代教皇としている。
一方、キリスト教会にとって、偉大な初代異邦人伝道、世界宣教者パウロの話もしたい。 新約聖書は２７の書から成っているが、その約半分は14の手紙がパウロによって書かれたとされている。 それくらい、大きな影響がある。
しかも、イエスの伝記のような書かれ方をしている新約聖書の最初の四つの福音書、マタイ、マルコ、ルカ、ヨハネが書かれた時代より、早く書かれたといわれている。
このパウロという人は、そもそもイエスの十二使徒の中には、含まれていない。 それもそのはず、パウロはユダヤ人だったが、エルサレムとかガリラヤ湖周辺、あるいはナザレなど、イスラエルで育ったわけではない。
今のトルコの中南部の町に生まれ育った。 ユダヤ人であり、もともとユダヤ教の信奉者。ユダヤ教のなかでも最大のグループ、ファリサイ派に所属し、それはそれは、ユダヤ教本流の信者。なので、キリスト教を迫害していた。
使徒言行録などに書かれている内容からして、キリスト信奉者を石投げの刑で殺すようなこともしていたと思われる。 しかし、そのパウロが、（若いころはサウルと呼ばれていた）さらなるキリスト者迫害のため、ダマスコという町に向かう途中、復活の主に、遭遇する。
遭遇するといっても、イエス・キリストの姿にあったわけではなく、強い光を受ける。そして、天の声を聞く。 それは、あきらかに、弟子たちがイエスの姿を見て、手のひらの傷や、わき腹の傷を確認したのとは異なる出会いがパウロには訪れた。その時、パウロは目が見えなくなってしまう経験をする。 その体験をするまでのパウロという人を記述するなら、ユダヤ、ファリサイ派の考え方を正義としてそれに従わない考えを真っ向から否定する強い考え方、暴力的、危険人物というような言葉が浮かんでくる。しかし、そのような者をイエス・キリストは用いて、偉大な伝道者とされた。 それまでの考え方を180度、方向転換して、キリストに従う者、使徒の一人として、世界伝道、といっても地中海北東沿岸伝道へと派遣し、新約聖書の半分ほどもギリシャ語で記述する者とされた。
おっちょこちょいペトロと、危険人物パウロの両者がイエス・キリストに出会い、キリスト教会の礎になったという話をしてきたが、いったい私たちに何を物語っているのだろう。
現代においても、子供のころからキリスト教の環境に育った人々、おっちょこちょいではないにしても、どちらかというとペトロ的な人もいれば、全くキリスト教のことは知らないで家は仏教だったとか日本神道だったとかその関係の諸派に育ち、危険人物とまでは言わなくても、パウロ的な環境に近かったという方々もいる。
そのような方々の中に、復活の主イエス・キリストは間違いなく働いておられ、いつか私たち自身が、主イエス・キリストの存在に気がつく。 私の個人的な体験からすれば、やはり、キリスト教会において、聖餐式をしている時というのは、今まで何度も経験しているが、聖霊の働きのなかで涙が出てきてしまう。 或は、私は、ある方が亡くなる姿のなかに、あるいは、長崎で原爆で崩された浦上天主堂のマリア像の写真だったが、それを見たときに、キリストを見る思いがある。
皆さんお一人お一人、イエス・キリストがそれぞれ異なる接し方をしている。 どのような接し方であろうが、それがペトロ型であろうがパウロ型であろうが、イエス・キリストの御言葉に耳を傾け、受け入れ、キリストを信頼し、そして、イエスキリストから遣わせられる人生を歩まれますように。アーメン。

Acts 9:1-6 John 21:1-19
May Grace and Peace be with you in the name of our risen Lord, Jesus Christ!
Now, in this sanctuary, there are people who were baptized many years ago and have been regularly keeping the Christian Faith. There are also people baptized many years ago but they do not attend church every week.
Or, there are people who have recently come to know the Christian Faith, specifically attending Resurrection Lutheran Church, but still do not know God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit well. However, they have started being together with brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ and fellowshipping. Welcome and wherever you are on your journey, I can say that you came to the right place.
The Gospel Text today, is the scene when Jesus appeared in front of Peter and the other disciples for the third time. The first one was on the day of resurrection, in the late afternoon, to 10 disciples, since Thomas was not there, in the locked room. And the second one was, a week later, when Thomas was present.
The exact timing of Jesus’ third appearance is uncertain, but it is most likely a few weeks after the resurrection. Although the disciples were given authority to forgive sins, they had not started Jesus’ mission… they still did not know what to do. Some of them went back to Lake Galilee and resumed their lives as fishermen again.
Well, those who returned to catching fish should have remained “fishers of men”, shouldn’t they? Peter, the head disciple, said “I will catch fish” and five others followed him. Even though they met the Resurrected Jesus twice, it was comfortable and natural to return to Galilee and fish again since that was their former profession before they started to follow Jesus. However, did they catch fish?
The first night, they did not catch any. Among them Jesus appeared, but the disciples did not realize who he was. He said, “Throw your net to the right side of your boat.” Then they caught plenty of fish. One of the disciples said, “Jesus, the Lord”
Peter understood what was going on within himself, “I did the same again…it is shame.” “Even though Jesus is around us, I forgot that and forgot what Jesus said.” And Peter hid himself from Jesus at first. Then later, Peter had the opportunity to meet with and talk with Jesus and engage in a much deeper conversation…
Peter was a kind of a careless person, making a hasty judgment, a disciple who wanted to lead the other disciples (and be head disciple) to gain recognition. However, Jesus, the Lord, our God still uses a flawed person, such as Peter, to proclaim his Good News. The Roman Catholic Church proclaims that Peter is the first Pope.
On the other hand, there is another very important ancient figure…the great missionary and global evangelist, Paul who was called Saul before his conversion. He is the author of half of the 27 books of the New Testament. 14 letters of the 27 books were written by Paul or his followers. He was a very influential man to the founding fathers of the ancient, first century Christian Church.
He started writing letters to ancient congregations before the four Gospels, Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, were written.
Paul was not a member of the 12 disciples. Paul was not living in Israel, but he was born in a city in Asian Minor, now called Turkey. Although he was born to a Jewish family and his native language was probably Hebrew, he also spoke and wrote in Greek; he was bilingual.
He was a devout Jew. He was a Pharisee, a kind of fundamental Jew. Therefore, he was persecuting Christians. According to what was written in Acts, he was probably killing Christians by throwing stones. When he was traveling to Damascus to persecute more Christians, a light from heaven flashed around him…then he listened to a voice from heaven. That voice said “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.” This encounter was very different from the other 11 disciples that met with Jesus and witnessed his wounds on both hands and his side. Even though I describe this incident as Paul meeting Jesus, the reality was that the heavenly light blinded him …he could only hear Jesus’ voice.
Before he experienced this incident, he opposed Christianity because he thought (like other Pharisees did) Jesus and his disciples were a threat to the Jewish establishment. Ironically, Saul was selfish, violent, and a true security risk.
However, Jesus chose this security risk, and made him a great evangelist. He was changed 180 degrees, and became a follower of Jesus Christ, and was sent on a global mission, although at that time he began in the north-eastern part of Mediterranean Sea…God also used Paul as a writer of New Testament.
Peter, a careless person, and Saul, a security risk, both flawed men met the resurrected Jesus Christ in different ways and became founding fathers of the apostolic church. What do these stories mean to us?
In this age, there are people who are born to a Christian family and grow up in a Christian environment, although we do not necessarily call these people, careless people, like Peter. Also, there are people who are born to Buddhist or Nippon Shinto families. They don’t have any relationship with Jesus and are not even against Christianity. We do not call people born into other faiths security risks, like Paul was before his conversion. Who are you? Who were you? Who is each one of you? What do you think? Do you think you are like Peter or Paul?
Either way, in both situations, Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, is working among you and walking with you. And you met with Jesus and noticed Jesus, or will meet with Jesus if you think you have not met him yet. In my personal experience, I see Jesus every week at the time of Holy Communion. Sometimes, tears fall down my cheeks. Or I felt Jesus’ presence, even though it was a picture of a statute, like when I saw a broken Mary statue at the Urakami Tenshudo in Nagasaki.
To each one of you, I am sure Jesus is revealed, whether or not you have yet noticed. In whatever ways the risen Lord reveals himself to you, my prayer is that each one of you listens to the Word of God, accepts it, trusts Him, and is sent into the world in order to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.

4月11日 詩編を読もう：嘆きが踊りに (詩編 30)
聖書日課で、今週の後半さらに14日の日曜日に与えられている詩篇は30編。声を出して読んでみよう。

2：主よ、あなたをあがめます。あなたは敵を喜ばせることなく／わたしを引き上げてくださいました。
3： わたしの神、主よ、叫び求めるわたしを／あなたは癒してくださいました。
4：主よ、あなたはわたしの魂を陰府から引き上げ／墓穴に下ることを免れさせ／わたしに命を得させてくださいました。
5：主の慈しみに生きる人々よ／主に賛美の歌をうたい／聖なる御名を唱え、感謝をささげよ。
6：ひととき、お怒りになっても／命を得させることを御旨としてくださる。泣きながら夜を過ごす人にも／喜びの歌と共に朝を迎えさせてくださる。

13：わたしの魂があなたをほめ歌い／沈黙することのないようにしてくださいました。わたしの神、主よ／とこしえにあなたに感謝をささげます。
「泣きながら夜を過ごす人にも／喜びの歌と共に朝を迎えさせてくださる。」という言葉がとても印象に残っている。13年前に友人を亡くし、突如、未亡人となられた友人の奥様。 彼女が、どんな嘆き悲しみを体験したかは、測り知れない。
彼女は丁寧に話してくださったが、夜中に襲ってくるどうしようもない寂しさに対して、神様が朝を迎えさせてくださることを確信し、いかに慰められるかと。
与えられた詩篇の続きを読むと、12節には、「嘆きを踊りに変え」て下さる主の働きが書かれている。
いままで付き添ってきた配偶者が突如亡くなってしまったり、あるいは、先週はリックウォーレン牧師もそれを実体験されサドルバック教会員のみなさんに祈りのサポートを求めておられるが、自分の息子に突如先立たれるという深い悲しみに遭遇する方々がおられる。さまざまな原因で、どうしようもない「嘆き」を主に訴える状況に置かれることがある。
主イエスキリストという方は、その嘆きの場にいっしょにいてくださる。夜中には、とんでもない恐怖感を味わったりする。しかし、その場にもいてくださる。
復活の主イエスは、父なる神と、聖なる霊といっしょの存在。神が聖霊なる友となり、私たちの心の中にも入ってきてくださる。誰でも復活の主に出会っている。それに気づく時、その嘆きの状態から、喜んで踊りたくなるような状況に変えていってくださる。
キリスト教の礼拝でも、復活の主イエスに会い、讃美歌を歌い踊り、礼拝が終わった時など、踊りながら礼拝堂から出てくることもある。
日本の文化でも、盆踊りとか阿波踊りとか、いろいろな踊りがあるが、踊りとは、喜びの大切な表現。 「クリスチャンだから私は盆踊りや阿波踊りはしない。」などと言わずに、むしろ、みんなで踊る機会があったら踊ったら良い。
復活ルーテル教会のジャパニーズフェスティバルで教会の庭で盆踊りをすることは意味がある。それは神の慈しみ、愛、祝福に対する表現でもあり、踊りながら、神に感謝する。 （5、13節をもう一度読んで見よう。）

2013年4月7日復活後第2主日聖餐礼拝説教「あなたがたに平和があるように」”Peace Be With You”安達均牧師

復活の主、イエス・キリストの御名において、あなた方に平安がありますように!
何かが神との間に立ちふさがり、神との関係が邪魔されてしまったと思うことがあっただろうか？
祈ろうとしても祈ることができないような。自分はクリスチャンであると思いながらも、実は疑っていて、結局は心を閉ざして、教会にも行けなくなってしまうような。自分は忙しいと思い、教会への出席を犠牲にしてしまうようなことがあっただろうか？ 或いは、今、あなた方は、神との関係にあって、大きな障害をかかえているという方があるだろうか？ 全能の神に疑問を抱き、その障害は、あなたに聖霊の息吹が入ってくることを妨害していると思われているようなことはないだろうか？
本日の福音書の前半部分、まだイエスが復活した当日の日曜の夕方の光景。 ヨハネ福音書によれば、その日の朝、ペトロともう一人の弟子は、墓からイエスの遺体が取り去られているのを目撃したものの、弟子たちは、全く、主が復活したなどということは理解できないでいた。
先週の説教でも話したように、復活の三日前の金曜は、イエスが十字架に架けられるとわかって、弟子たちは現場からは逃げてしまった。 また弟子の筆頭であるペトロは、三度も、イエスなんか知らないと言ってしまった。弟子たちは皆、自分たちも逮捕され死刑になるのではないかと恐れていた。イエスの弟子のつもりでいたが、まったくイエスの十字架刑を阻止できなかった。 恐ろしさとともに、自分たちを責め、恥さえ感じていた。 そして、イエスが墓に葬られた後は、安息日を良き理由に、部屋に閉じこもりつづけた。
日曜になっても、ちょっとペトロともう一人の弟子が墓を見に行ったが、イエスの遺体をだれかがまた裸にして、持っていってしまったと思いすぐにまた部屋に戻り、弟子たちで部屋のドアに鍵をかけ、日曜の夕方になっても閉じこもっていた。しかし、ドアに鍵がかけられていたにもかかわらず、イエスは部屋の真ん中に現れた。 逃げていってしまった弟子たちを決して責めるようなことを言われない。 三度、イエスを否定した、ペトロにもイエスは安らかな顔を向けられる。
そして、当時としては最悪の暴力をただ呆然と見て、キリストの十字架刑をまったく防ぎもしなかった弟子たちに、「恥を知れ。」なととは言わない。その代わりに、「あなたがたに平和があるように。」と言われる。そして、両手の釘の後、わき腹の傷を見せる。 その目的は、決して弟子たちを責めるわけではなく、弟子たちはその傷痕を見ることで、実に復活したイエスであると確認できた。 そして、イエスは今一度、「あなた方に平安があるように。」と言い、さらに「私の父である神が私を遣わしたように、私もあなた方を遣わす。」と言って、聖霊の息を吹きかけられ、弟子たちに罪を赦す権能を与えられる。
さて、本日与えられている聖書箇所を通して、神はこの礼拝堂に集まった私たちに何を語っているのだろうか？
神なるイエス、葬られていたイエスは、生き返り、墓石を転がし、墓から出て来られた。さらに、おびえて閉じこもっていることしかできなかった弟子たちの部屋の真ん中に現れる。 そして、「あなたがたに平和があるように。」と言われる。 それと同じことが実は、今、集まっているこの礼拝堂の中で起こっている。イエスが実に復活したといっても、それが、いったいどういうことなのか、よくわからないでいる私たち。そして、キリストの体である教会を、疑い、私は、キリストはわかるけど教会はよくわからないといったりしてしまう私たち。そのような私たちに、イエスキリストの方が、私たちと教会、つまりはキリストの体、との間に存在する障害を取り除いてくださる。 そして、イエス・キリストが、私たちが閉じていると思っている心を開き、私たちの心の中に入ってきてくださる。そして、神なるイエス・キリストはご自分の傷を見せられる。
その傷とはなんだろう。 アメリカ合衆国のキリスト教会群を見るとき、昨年あたりは毎週５０教会が閉じているという話だった。しかし、先週読んだ記事では、いまや、毎週７０教会が閉じているという話もあり、今年中に、その数は150にも上るのではないかとも言われている。その中には、近年はじまったばかりの多くの単立教会もあれば、歴史のあるプロテスタント教会も、またカトリック教会もある。 私たちが生きている世代は、そのようなキリスト教の衰えを引き起こした世代。ここにいるすべての会衆は、キリストの体である教会に傷をつけてしまった世代に属する。
しかし、神なるイエスは、私たちを一切、非難するようなことも言わず、また、「恥を知れ。」などとも言われない。傷を負いながらも、キリストの御顔は恵みと慈しみに満ち、私たちに微笑み、「あなた方に平安があるように。父が私を遣わしたように、私もあなた方を遣わす。」と話され、聖霊の息吹を私たちに吹きかけられる。
「平安」とは漢字では、「たいら」に「安かれ」と書く。日本に育った関係上、「平安」という言葉は、この二文字が表すように、静かなイメージを持っている。 しかし、英語の辞書で、「Peace」を調べると、煩雑からの解放のような意味が出てくる。 さらに、ヘブル語で「シャローム」という言葉は、もともとの意味は、「完璧」という意味になってくる。
私たちは、さまざまな困難や煩雑さを人生のなかで味わい、私たちひとりひとり、本当に不完全であることを認めざるを得ない。 たまに、「自分は完璧だ。」なんていう人がいるが、それは、不完全の現われ。 しかし、そのような不完全な中に、神なるイエスは、不完全さからの解放を与えてくださる。 神は、平安を与えてくださる、それは私たちの不完全さ、悲しみ、疑い、恥にもかかわらず、神がイエス・キリストによる完璧さを、もたらしてくださる。
そして、平安をもたらすだけではなく、イエスは、聖霊をふきかけて、私たちを世に送り出す。今この礼拝堂において、私たちは、キリストからの聖霊を吹きかけられ、「神の平安があなたがたとともにあるように。そして、あなたがたを世に遣わす。」という言葉を聴いている。 今や、私たちは、神との関係を邪魔してしまうもの、悲しみ、疑い、恥から解放され。 そして、喜びを持って、復活の主、イエス・キリストの最高の知らせを伝える者として、世に送られる。 その復活の主は、すべての人々がかかえる不完全さから解放してくださり、すべての人々に平安を賜る。 アーメン
Peace Be With You
May the Peace of the Lord be with You in the name of the Risen One, Jesus Christ!
Have you ever had, in the past, any stumbling blocks that came between you and God?
Even though you still considered yourself a Christian, you doubted Jesus, and the Body of Christ, the Church. You could not even pray to Him and closed your mind to God…Have you ever had such an experience?
Or do you have stumbling blocks now? Do you have doubts? Are those stumbling blocks causing you to shut the door of your heart and not allowing the Holy Spirit to enter?
In the Gospel today, it is still Sunday. During that morning, Peter and one more disciple found the empty tomb, however, the disciples could not fully comprehend the Resurrection.
Three days prior, they ran away from their Lord, since they realized that Jesus would be arrested and crucified. The head disciple, Peter, even denied Jesus three times.
All the disciples were so fearful because they thought that they would also be arrested and sentenced to death as well; even though Jesus was their Lord, they did not do anything to prevent the Crucifixion.
They were fearful and felt shame. They kept the door closed and stayed in the room. On Saturday, there was the convenient excuse not to leave the room because it was the Sabbath.
Except for the period of time that Peter quickly went out to see the empty tomb and returned; the disciples stayed in the locked room on that late Sunday afternoon. While the disciples stayed in the room, Jesus came to the center of the room. He did not criticize the disciples that ran away when he was arrested. He looked upon Peter who denied him three times – with forgiveness.
He did not say “Shame on you,” to Peter and to those who could not and did not prevent the violence (the entirety of the Crucifixion), instead he said to them, “Peace Be With You!” and showed them his wounds on both hands and on his side. The purpose of showing his wounds was not to blame but to testify that he was indeed the risen Jesus Christ. And He said again, “Peace Be With You!” “As my father sent me, I send you.” Breathing on them with the Holy Spirit, he gave them the authority to forgive sins.
Well, what is this text telling us today?
Like when the resurrected Jesus moved the big rock at the gravesite and emerged from the tomb, he also came into the room through the locked door. While disciples were so fearful and shameful thinking that Jesus was dead, He comes offering Peace. As when you are doubting the church and not really being honest with God, He still removes stumbling blocks, those impediments between you and Christ, and Jesus comes into your heart even though you are closing your heart.
God, Jesus Christ, is showing us the wounds in the body of Christ. If we look at Christianity in the United States, according to the latest statistics, every week almost 70 congregations permanently close their doors. There are also many non-denominational, main line protestant, and catholic congregations that are closing as well. We are the generation that is allowing the decline of Christianity. All of us belong to this generation that wounded the Church, the Body of Christ.
However, God, he does not accuse us at all and, of course, he does not say “shame on us.” His face shines on us with Grace and Mercy, and he is smiling and saying, “Peace be with You! As the Father sent me, I send you.” – breathing the Holy Spirit unto us.
While preparing my sermon, I asked myself a question, what does the word “Peace” mean? In Chinese characters, Peace consists of two characters: one means “flat” and the other one means “easy.” Because of my cultural background, I have a perception that peace means, calm, like the two characters represent. I am not sure that Jesus meant flat and easy…I used an English dictionary and it said, “Freedom from distractions.” Finally, I researched the Hebrew word, “Shalom,” meaning peace. The original meaning of this word is “completion.”
It is wonderful that even though we are experiencing many kinds of distractions in our lives, God gives us freedom from them. God brings us peace: a sense of completeness despite all of our incompleteness, sorrow, doubt, and shame.
This is worth emphasizing. Not only does Jesus give us peace, but he also says “Like the Father sent me, I send you.” – breathing the Holy Spirit unto us.
Here in this sanctuary, we are receiving the Holy Spirit from Jesus Christ, and we are listening to the Word of Christ “Peace be with you…I send you.”
You are now free from all stumbling blocks, unburdened by sorrow, doubt, fear, sin, and shame. You are joyfully sent into the world to tell the good news of the risen Lord, Jesus Christ, who sets us free from all of our incompleteness and gives us peace.

4月4日 詩編を読もう：息あるものはこぞって (詩編 150) 牧師：安達 均
復活祭の週に与えられている詩編箇所は150編。 例によって3回、声を出して読んでみたいが、一回読むたびに、次のようなことを考えながら読むことをお勧めしたい。
まず一回目：気になった言葉や句は何か？ 線を引いたり丸をつけたりあるいはメモをとる。
そして二回目：この詩編を通して、神はいったい自分に何を語りかけておられるのか？
そして三回目：この詩編を通して、神はいったい復活ルーテル教会（あるいは自分の所属する何かのコミュニティ、例えば家族とか、近所とか）のコミュニティに何を語りかけておられるか？
1：ハレルヤ。聖所で神を賛美せよ。大空の砦で神を賛美せよ。
2：力強い御業のゆえに神を賛美せよ。大きな御力のゆえに神を賛美せよ。
3：角笛を吹いて神を賛美せよ。琴と竪琴を奏でて神を賛美せよ。
4：太鼓に合わせて踊りながら神を賛美せよ。弦をかき鳴らし笛を吹いて神を賛美せよ。
5：シンバルを鳴らし神を賛美せよ。シンバルを響かせて神を賛美せよ。
6：息あるものはこぞって主を賛美せよ。ハレルヤ。
三回読んでいただけただろうか？ どんなメモを残されただろうか？ どのようなことを考えられただろうか？
いくつかのポイントを書いておきたい。 この詩編の箇所、よく読むと、次のような４つの質問に対する答えが書いてある。
1) どこで賛美するか？
2) なぜ賛美するか？
3) どのように賛美するか？
4) だれが賛美するか？
この四つの質問に対する答えに関するようなことを、偏ることなくカバーするようなメモを残されたり、考えた方もいると思う。 それはそれですばらしい。
私の場合は、今朝は、どうも4つ目の質問に関することに集中してしまった。 一回目も二回目もそして、三回目も。 とくに三回目、「息あるものはこぞって」という言葉がせまってきて、考えさせられた。 この世に存在する、呼吸をする、神が創造されたものすべてが皆、主なる神を賛美するように、と勧められてられている。
主が復活された時、イースターの時期にあって、復活されたイエス・キリストは、自分を助けることができなかった女性たち、逃げていってしまった弟子たち、そして３度も自分を否定したペトロに対しても、いっさい文句を言ったり、責めたりすることはされない。 最初に弟子たちに現れたとき「あなたがたに平和があるように。」と言われたことも同時に考えた。 主は、隣人を愛せよ、だけではなく、敵をも愛するようにとも言われていたことも思い出す。
礼拝で神を賛美する時、それは、私たち気のあった者同志だけで賛美するとか、社会的に似たようなグループに属している人だけで賛美するとか、あるいは、大人だけでとか、子供だけでとか、そのようなある特定の人だけが賛美するのではなく、息あるものはこぞって、賛美する。 そのようなイメージを、とくに今の復活ルーテル教会に与えてくださっているように感じる。
４月７日の礼拝は、メソジスト教会の方々がいっしょに礼拝に参加してくださることになっている。 子供も来て欲しいし、また、英語をしゃべる方も、いっしょに賛美してくれたらうれしい。また花が置かれたりして、花もいっしょに。。。 復活の主にあって、良き礼拝の時、賛美の時が与えられますように。
主の復活に感謝し、病の中にある方、さまざまな悩みの中にある方のことも覚え、神の導きを祈りつつ。

イースターおめでとうございます！
無残な殺された方の現場にいた経験のある方はいるだろうか？
30年以上前、殺人事件の現場に居合わせてしまった友人がいる。私たちは電気工学を専攻する大学４年生の時だった。彼は夜中に実験がほぼかたづき、仮眠する前に、大学を出て数分のところにある自動販売機までビールを買いに出かけた。大学の門から数百メートル行ったところの自動販売機に近づいた時、そこにタクシーが止まっていた。すると運転席のドアが開き、血だらけの運転手が地面に倒れて動かない。さらに、後部座席からは、客だった人が出てきて、私の友人と顔を見合わせた。彼は殺人犯を見つめてしまった事に気づき、今度は自分が殺されてはたまらないと思い現場から必死に走って大学の門の方に逃げた。幸運なことに、殺人犯は、私の友人が逃げた方向と反対方向に向かって逃げていったそうだ。彼は、110番通報するため、大学入り口まで無我夢中で走った。 靴は脱げてしまい、また、そこは上り坂だったため、最後は、走れなくなって、地面をはっていた。 そして、守衛さんに110番通報をお願いした。 何時、犯人にまた会うかもしれず、彼は、それから本当に心配な日々が続いた。 しかし、彼の証言が犯人探しの重要な手がかりとなり、数週間後には、犯人逮捕となった。犯人は捕まったとはいえ、彼の体験した恐怖は、並たいていなものではなく、私は何年たっても、彼がそのときの話をすることで、気が楽になるならと思い、彼の話を何度も聞いた。
さて本日は、イエスが十字架に架かって、無残な殺され方をして、三日目です。勿論、歴史的な変遷を経て、21世紀の今日ではキリストの復活、イースターのお祝いだが、2000年前に戻って、弟子たちの気持ちがどのようなものだったかを考えたい。
イエスが十字架に架かったのは、金曜日。幸か不幸か、金曜日の日暮れから、当時のユダヤのしきたりで、外には出てはいけない日だった。 弟子たちは、自分たちが従ってきたイエスが十字架刑になり、また、自分たちも同じ刑にあったら大変と思い、イエスを見捨てた。 云ってみれば怖くて怖くてしょうがなかった。 だから、私は、すくなくとも、金曜夕方から日曜明け方まで、家の中に閉じこもっていなければならなかったのは、むしろ良かったことなのではないかと思う。
しかし、日曜の朝になった。 弟子たちは、次に何をして良いか全然、わからない。弟子たちの中には、もう、田舎の実家に戻るしかない。そして、ひっそり暮らせばよいと思った者もいた。しかし、勇気ある女性がいた。ヨハネ福音書によれば、マグダラ出身のマリヤは、お墓を見に行った。すると、どうだろう、お墓の入り口の大きな石が横にとりのけられている。そして中にあるべきイエスの遺体が、お墓からなくなっている。そしてマリアは、弟子たちのところに行き、遺体がなくなっていることを告げる。しかし、弟子たちは怖くて、すぐに墓に行って確かめようとする気にはならない。そこで、一番弟子のペテロともう一人の弟子が二人で、ユダヤの兵士たちに捕まることがないように、大急ぎでお墓に走っていく。すると、確かにイエスの遺体がなくなっている。ただなくなったわけではなく、体中に巻きつけてあった亜麻布がお墓の中にあり、さらに、別の場所に、頭を覆いかぶせてあった布も置かれていた。そして確かにそうだと信じた。あくまで二人の弟子が「信じた」というのは、マリアが報告した遺体がなくなっているという事実を信じたにすぎなかった。そこには、イエスが復活したなどという考えは全くなく、誰かが、イエスの遺体を、また裸にして持っていってしまったと思った。弟子たちは、ますます、気味が悪く、怖くなったのではないだろうか。そして、自分たちの身に、何かあってはならないと思い、一目散に必死に走って家に戻っていった。そして、マリアだけが墓の前に残って、イエスが亡くなった悲しみの上に、さらに、だれかがイエスの遺体を持っていってしまったむなしさを感じつつ泣いていた。 そこに、二人の天使が現われ、さらに、イエスが現れる。 最初はイエスだとわからず、お墓の手入れをする人だと思った。 しかし、イエスが「マリア」と呼びかけた声で、イエスだと気づく。
さて、今日復活主日に与えられた聖書の箇所はいったい何を私たちに教えているのだろうか？ 人の死というのは、とても悲しく、また怖いもの。12年前、一人の友人を40代で亡くしたが、奥様が本当に寂しさを感じられた事と同時に、特に夜、怖くて怖くてしょうがなくなると話しておられたのを思い出す。しかし、聖書の言葉や詩編の言葉がいかに、癒してくれるかも話してくれた。病気で身内を失っても、怖さを覚えるのに、ましてや、イエスのように十字架刑という残忍な殺され方、しかも、いばらの冠をつけられ、兵士からののしられ、つばをかけられ、裸にされ、殺されてしまった場合、そのイエスをリーダとしていた弟子たちにとって、それが、どれほどの衝撃となり、怖くなったか、想像がつく。しかし、イエスは、怖くて震え上がっている弟子たちを放置されない。 また、イエスを失って、悲しくてしょうがないマリア、また、そのほかの女性たちを放っておかれない。それは、2000年たった今も、イエスの復活は、活き続けており、現代、配偶者を失って悲しくてしょうがない、親を失って悲しくてしょうがない。 あるいは、病の中にあり、自分の死への恐怖を覚えておられる方をも放っておかれない。
復活の主は、かならず、そこにおられる。 聖書の言葉、聖霊の働き、教会の兄弟姉妹のはげましの中に、復活の主の働きが、私たちの間にあり、たとえ困難に直面していても、喜びを私たちにもたらす。 たとえイエスが予言していたとはいえ、弟子たちにとって復活ということは、簡単に理解できて信じることができなかったように、現代の私たちも簡単には理解できないし、本当に心から復活を信じられるような人間にはなりにくい。 しかし、私たち人間が信じていようが信じていまいが、復活の主の方から、私たち人間に働きかけておられ、私たちを新しいものに変えてくださっている。 私たちの生活において、心の痛み、悲しみ、恐れが、平安、幸福、そして、喜びへと変わっていくには、時間がかかる。 復活節は、まだ７週間続く。聖霊降臨日まで、49日ある。49日というと、仏教で、ある方が亡くなってから毎週、毎週、初七日、二-七日（ふたなぬか）- – -、とお祈りする。 私はそれもとても良いことだと思う。 今日、キリストの復活日をお祝いしてから、これから聖霊降臨日までの49日間、毎週毎週、ぜひ、礼拝に参加され、復活の主がわたしたちの心への中にさらに入ってこられ、今年また新たに、おひとりおひとりが復活の主が与えてくださる、さらなる恵み、喜びを実感できますように。

Grace and Peace to you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ!
Have you ever witnessed a brutal death? More than 30 years ago, my friend witnessed a murder. We were Seniors, majoring in Electrical Engineering at a Japanese university. On that day, my friend worked very late and finished an experiment. He decided to stay overnight sleeping on a couch in the Lab. Before he rested on the couch, he went outside to get a beer. When he approached a vending machine (in Japan it is legal to sell beer through vending machines) a few blocks from the campus, there was a cab. Then he saw that the driver’s door was opened but the cab driver had fallen down onto the street. Then from the back seat, a passenger exited from the cab. My friend saw this guy face to face…
He realized he was staring at a killer. To avoid being killed, he ran away as fast as possible to get back to the university’s front gate where a guard always stayed. Luckily the killer did not follow him, but instead he also ran away in the opposite direction.
My friend ran his head off. When he almost reached the guard’s hut, he realized that he was not wearing his shoes. Also since the road was uphill, he was out of breath. So he could not run anymore and he was staggering. As soon as he got there, he asked the guard to call 911.
Since he did not know if the killer would come back to kill him, he was so fearful and could not sleep well for many nights. However, all the information he gave the police helped them catch the killer a few weeks later. Even though the killer was arrested, he was still traumatized, almost every time I saw him, he shared how he was feeling again and again. I thought that listening to him was good for him and would help him relax and unburden himself.
The gospel text today, you may call it “The Empty Tomb,” on the third day after the crucifixion. 2000 years of history after the incident, we celebrate this anniversary as the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, I would like to go back 2000 years ago and let’s think about how the disciples really felt.
Since Jesus was crucified and died around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, there was not much time from the time he died to the point that the Sabbath started, which was the time of sunset on Friday. Once the Sabbath started, people could not go outside. Therefore, the disciples and women who were following Christ stayed at home. Especially for the disciples, it was good for them to be protected, because they might also have been killed by Jewish leaders.The disciples were so fearful, so it seemed like the fact that he was killed just before the Sabbath was good for them because Jewish leaders and soldiers could do nothing until Sunday morning anyway. Sunday morning arrived and the disciples did not know what to do and they were still fearful. Some of them started to think about going back to their hometowns, like Emmaus, for the rest of their lives to live as normal people again and not as disciples anymore. Whatever they thought, they could not go out in public.
However, there was a courageous woman, Mary Magdalene. She went to see the gravesite. She realized that the stone had been removed from the tomb and it was empty. She could not find the body of Jesus.Then she went back and reported this to the disciples. Although they did not believe her and were reluctant to go out, the head disciple, Peter, and maybe John, both ran as fast as possible to the gravesite to see if what Mary said was true. Mary followed after them. When they arrived, they saw the empty tomb. Although they could not find the body, there was linen that had wrapped the body and cloth that had covered his head.
It is written that they “believed,” but they believed only what Mary said was true – Jesus’ body was not there. At that moment, there was nothing about resurrection in their minds. They just thought that someone uncovered Jesus and took the body away somewhere. They felt even more fear and immediately ran back to the place where the other disciples were.
Every time I read about Peter, I feel he is a funny guy and a little bit of a careless person… If they had stayed a little bit longer, they could’ve seen the resurrected Jesus. So, only Mary was there. She was grieving and crying. Wondering where Jesus was taken away and who took him. But suddenly two angels appeared in the tomb. Also, Jesus revealed himself behind Mary.
At first, she did not realize that the person was Jesus. He said, “Mary.” After listening to his voice, Mary noticed that he was indeed Jesus. According to the Gospel of John, Mary Magdalene was the first person to see the resurrected Jesus.What does this text mean to us on the day of Resurrection? For me, I feel how it is hard to face death…it is sad and fearful.
I lost a friend 12 years ago, his wife shared with me how it was difficult and she was fearful sleeping in bed without her husband every night. However, she also shared how the Word of the Bible helped her and reading Psalms comforted her. Even though my friend died because of disease, it was so fearful and traumatic for his wife and children. Furthermore, if it is brutal death, it is more traumatizing. Jesus was flogged and stricken, and the crown of thorns was put on his head… he was naked, forsaken, and put on a tree, the cross. It was a trauma for the disciples and made them sorrowful, fearful and also ashamed because they could not stop the crucifixion at all. They went away. Especially, Peter he denied Jesus, saying “I do not know him” three times.
However, Jesus Christ did not let the disciples be fearful and ashamed. Jesus did not let Mary become sad.
Even after 2000 years, Jesus does not leave people feeling fearful. He comforts widows in sorrow, people in the darkness, people traumatized and people otherwise lost and neglected.
The resurrected Jesus Christ is among these people and also lives within us. Through the Word of God in the Bible, work of the Holy Spirit, encouragement from brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus Christ is working among us and pouring His Joy unto people even if the world is facing challenges and difficulties.
Disciples could not understand the resurrection easily even though it was professed beforehand, likewise, it is not easy for us to understand and truly believe the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, the resurrected Jesus is working among us, renewing us, and recreating us even now, 2000 years after he was resurrected.
In our lives, it is not easy to turn from sorrow, sadness, and turn fear into peace, happiness, and joy. In our Christian Calendar, Easter continues 49 more days, 7 weeks, until Pentecost, May 19th, this year. Like Buddhists come to temple and pray every 7 days for 49 days after a family member has died, why do we not gather in this sanctuary to worship every 7 days after the resurrection of our Lord, and listen to the Word of God and learn about the Resurrected Jesus, so that the Resurrected Christ, the Living Word, and the Living Holy Spirit can further come into our hearts.
